How to find an earlier Global Entry appointment
Updated October 25, 2026. General information from the official program pages at ttp.cbp.dhs.gov and cbp.gov; rules change, so confirm there.
After conditional approval, the last step of Global Entry is a short interview at an enrollment center. At busy centers the first available date can be months out. Earlier dates do appear, but only as cancellations, and they are taken quickly. Here is how the system behaves and how to work with it.
Where earlier slots come from
Enrollment centers publish their interview calendar on the official Trusted Traveler Programs scheduler. Once a calendar is full, the only way a nearer date appears is when someone cancels or reschedules. That can happen at any hour, and the freed slot goes back into the calendar immediately.
Because many applicants refresh the scheduler through the day, a released slot is usually claimed within minutes. Being there at the right moment matters more than anything else.
- Openings are cancellations
Centers release their calendar months ahead and it fills fast. An earlier date shows up only when someone cancels or reschedules, at a random moment.
- They are gone in minutes
Plenty of people refresh the official scheduler all day. A released slot is usually taken within a few minutes, often sooner.
- Being first is the whole game
You keep the appointment you already have until you book a better one on the official site, so there is nothing to lose. The app watches for you and pushes a notification the moment a slot opens.
Rescheduling on the official site
- Sign in at ttp.cbp.dhs.gov with your Login.gov account.
- Open your Global Entry application and choose to schedule or reschedule the interview.
- Pick an enrollment center. You are not limited to the one you chose when you applied, and any center can do the interview.
- Choose the date and time and confirm. Your previous appointment is replaced by the new one.
Widen the search
Enrollment centers inside airports and at land borders tend to have the most traffic and the most cancellations. Smaller offices and centers a few hours' drive away often have calendars that are weeks shorter. If you can travel, check every center within reach: our soonest-slots list is sorted by date across the whole country, and each state page lists its centers side by side.
Enrollment on Arrival
If you have an international trip coming up, you may not need an appointment at all. Enrollment on Arrival lets conditionally approved applicants complete the interview with a CBP officer when they land in the United States at a participating airport, without a scheduled slot.
Let the app watch for you
Refreshing a calendar for weeks is the part nobody enjoys. The Global Entry Appointments app checks every center continuously and sends a push notification the moment a slot opens before the date you have, at the centers you choose or anywhere in the country. Open the notification, book on the official site, done.
Before you go
Have your documents ready so an earlier date is usable on short notice: see what to bring to the interview. If you are still waiting on a decision, conditional approval, explained covers what the status means and how long it lasts.
